MATH 207 Text
The main text used for this course is
J. E. Marsden and A. J. Tromba, Vector Calculus,
5th edition, W. H. Freeman and Company, ISBN: 0-7167-4992-0.
Occassionally, I'll have to supplement this book with more
theoretical treatments and/or additional topics.
Here are two other references that are extremely useful
for the course:
T. M. Apostol, Calculus, vol. 2, 2nd edition,
John Wiley & Sons, 1969, ISBN: 0-4710-0007-8
A masterfully written classic, but has less geometric flavor than we need.
This is an expensive book, but fortunately is
available in the QC library.
J. H. Hubbard and B. B. Hubbard, Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra and
Differential Forms, 2nd edition, Prentice Hall, 2001,
ISBN: 0-1304-1408-5
One of the few elementary texts which aims at introducing the
language of manifolds and forms at an early stage. An impressive
wealth of insights and examples from different areas of mathematics.
